Meet Karmen | Co-Founder
Karmen Herring, co-founder of July November LLC, was born a southern belle in Memphis, TN, with an innate ability to decipher and structure information in her own unique voice. As a child, she was always the one with the takeover spirit. Group projects were always challenging because she always trusted her work and doubted everyone else’s, with good reason.
Having always been a creative at heart, Karmen excelled in projects that would allow her to work under pressure, be proactive and push herself to learn as much as she could, minus the hand holding from anyone. In undergrad, Karmen started her own advice column “Ask Karmen” in her alma mater’s newspaper, “The Courtbouillion”. Taking on a dual role as the features/entertainment editor, she also freelanced for other local publications in New Orleans.
After graduating from Dillard University with a bachelor of arts in communication with a dual focus in journalism and public relations, and minor in English; Karmen dove head first into non-profit work with community development corporations, churches and even spent a few years teaching English, before shifting her focus to her sweet spot of branding and event production.
Over the last few years, Karmen has worked with REEL Ladies, Merge Summit, Merge University, Reed for Hope, the Pan African Film and Arts Festival, Union Rescue Mission and a host of other great companies and organizations. Her keen eye and careful attention to detail coupled with her extensive knowledge base and level of precision in her execution process classify her as one of LA’s top event producers and brand strategists. Her versatile background allows her to bring a broader perspective to the production than that of a typical planner. Her intent is to ensure that your event and brand strategy represents the soul of who you are. In November of 2016, Karmen partnered with her very best friend, Chris Weir and founded July November.
